PRAYING MANTIS
Praying mantises area type of insect or mini beast. They are meat eaters.
What do they look like?
The
praying mantis has six legs, a thorax, a head and an abdomen. They also
have a pair of antennae. On the praying mantises front legs there are
some sharp spikes. These are used to catch prey. Most preying mantises
have wings but some loose them by catching them on things or predators
attack them. Praying mantises also have a long, green skinny body. (It
can be many other colours other than green like black, brown and even
pink.) They also have a triangle head and two powerful eyes.
Where do they live?
Praying mantises can live in lots of places. They live in trees, in bushes and in grass.
How do they move?
Praying mantises have six legs to walk on. They can move very fast when they catch their pray. Most have wings but some don’t.
What do they eat?
Praying mantes eat lots of things like mosquitoes and crickets and also other small and large mini beasts.
Interesting facts
Praying mantises can camouflage in their environment very nicely. This way they can stay away from predators. Praying mantises can be very fast. They can move so fast - as fast as half a blink!
Praying mantises are great insects and get heaps of pests out of the way. I like praying mantises. They are great!!!
